Cristin and Dan held their wedding at the picturesque Chesapeake Resort on the gorgeous island of Islamorada FL. As customary with Navy grooms, Dan and his groomsmen performed the sword ceremony, adding to an already stunning wedding.

“They had blue skies, hot pink shoes – Groom’s Request, the family dog in the Wedding Party, and one great band.” said Donna of McLaughlin Photography.

Top Palm Beach band The John Parker Band performed for the wedding ceremony, then kept the celebration going strong!

For the rest of the evening, the bride and groom were surrounded by their friends and family– just what every Bride and Groom want!

Always happy to meet couples planning for their big day, John Parker, of The John Parker Band, participated in the Southern Ocean County & Long Beach Island area’s “Wedding Road Show“.  Having spent many months of every year of his life in L.B.I., and having played many Long Beach Island weddings, John is at home on this beautiful Island. “LBI gets in your blood, & once you’re hooked,  there’s really nowhere else quite like it!” John says.  LBI, long-known as an upscale beach destination, is ever increasing in popularity for weddings.

Organized by the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce, this year’s show was graciously hosted by the Boat House, a fun and casual, yet elegant and enchanting, bayside restaurant & wedding venue in Beach Haven.  Drawing hundreds of brides & grooms– all excitedly anticipating their own weddings– the Wedding Road Show is an unparalleled New Jersey Beach Wedding resource. Music, entertainment, venues, food…the best of the best opportunities were ALL there!

Throughout the day, John met with brides, grooms, and their families (his cutie kids & future bandmates Sara and Wes helped when things got busy!!).

Nestled along the remote and pristine haven of silky sand and unspoiled vistas that is Amelia Island,  is the impeccable Ritz Carlton Amelia Island and its breathtaking grounds. A genuine storybook setting for a wedding, which turned into reality when Stephanie & Seth celebrated their wedding ceremony and reception there recently.

Of performing at the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island, John Parker says “Entertaining at Ritz-Carlton hotels is always a flawless experience. Their unparalleled customer service and attention to detail are a perfect fit for my OCD personality (laughs). Everything is just so, and brides and their families can count, unequivocally, on having a stellar and unforgettable wedding celebration.”

Stephanie and Seth’s wedding was no exception. Featured in the Spring 2011 issue of Amelia Island Weddings, their big day was one to celebrate. With Palm Beach’s John Parker Band performing, the Bride and Groom and their guests danced the night away. “I loved the music, and the whole evening was upbeat and memorable,” Mother of the Bride Dianne later commented.

Amelia Island Photographer Holly Allain captured images while “the John Parker Band had everyone dancing” (Amelia Island Weddings p 17)!

After being married at Sacred Heart Church, Jessica and Adrian, along with their family and friends, celebrated at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s Music Hall Foyer. This amazing venue was the perfect backdrop for the Bride and Groom.

Guests enjoyed the music of a pianist (and a surprise dance!) during cocktail hour in the Balcony Foyer before moving to the main hall. With Pittsburgh’s top wedding band and event performer John Parker and The John Parker Band providing awesome entertainment, there was surly no shortage of special moments for Brian Reid of Reid Portraits to capture (a sampling of those photos is below) Jessica and Adrian’s guests danced all night!

A venue this majestic is pretty much all you need for a great wedding. Fun family, friends & great music doesn’t hurt either!

Long Beach Island Wedding Band John Parker loves a great Wedding on the New Jersey shore – so they were honored to play for the wedding reception of Jeanine and Matt, and all of their guests – only minutes from JP’s summertime home in Long Beach Island!

Bonnet Island Estate, a lovely Weddings of Distinction venue, was the location for this mid-summer wedding. With the legendary Merrimaker’s Catering caring for the details, The John Parker Band providing entertainment, and the incomparable Portraits by the Bay Photography‘s Jason Morris himself shooting, this was one wonderful & unique wedding celebration!

Under a magnificent tent on the sprawling grounds of a beautiful private home in suburban Baltimore Maryland, Katie and Matt celebrated their wedding day with a outdoor reception to dream of.  ♥  The  estate’s grounds overlooked the farm where Katie grew up,  which made the setting all the more romantic!

John Parker and his Band, deployed their special setup for tents & with their 8 piece band played a fun mix of songs that kept the bride and groom and their guests dancing for hours! Baltimore wedding photographer Dennis Drenner captured amazing images – here are 6 of them:

JP snapped a few with his iPhone as well:

Congratulations to Katie and Matt!

Next time you think maybe, just maybe, YOUR wedding cake is too much – too big, too expensive, too fancy, WHATEVER… Rest Assured YOUR cake has nothing on these!!! Check these out!! – yea they are outrageous, but just maybe you’ll find some real inspiration among these truly “masterpiece” wedding cakes!

Every so often there is something that, when I see it, I think “now I’ve seen it all” – but these “take the cake” 🙂

Stonebridge Golf & Country Club Boca Raton – what a SPECTACULAR VENUE for a Wedding! – This is NOT your Grandfather’s Country Club!

Visit their website: http://www.stonebridgefl.com/

I was struck with the architecture, decor, the cool stage LED lighting, in-house linens & especially the hospitality of the management & staff.  SO much is “included”.   If you are looking for a unique country club setting that is impressive,  elegant & brings a LOT of value in Boca – this club should be on your list!

I took a few pics with my phone – note, the piano gets moved which leaves plenty of room for my band! 🙂

TIME FOR TOASTS – WHO TOASTS WHO? WHY? – WELCOME TO THE WEDDING !

Wondering about toasts? Well here is some info that might help: Generally, the host speaks first. Often that is the father of the bride, sometimes the bride & groom, & occasionally all parental entities. This happens usually early in the reception – preceded typically only by the first dance & possibly the cutting of the cake. In the most traditional setting, the father of bride welcomes his new son in law to the family, talks about his daughter, and welcomes the guests from all the places from which they’ve traveled..

If it is the Father of the Bride that has spoken, then sometimes, the groom then responds. He thanks his father in law for the kind words and often then thanks his parents for their making him marriage material. He (if he’s smart) often then thanks his bride for marrying him and he (again if smart) toasts the bridesmaids as well. I’d say I see the groom toasting in this way in only about 15-20% of weddings.

Next typically is the best man, and/or the Maid/Matron of Honor. Sometimes there are more of each of these. In this toast, the best man or maid of honor will, besides toasting the bride & groom, often attempt to entertain the guests, being funny and emotional all at the same time. Often times the best man is entertaining even when not particularly funny, so all in all a definite highlight in the scheme of any “toast-a-rama”. Though often I like to say “ladies before gentlemen” – personally I have found the biggest consideration might be who speaks the best. If one speaker is a natural & is going to blow the others away with their elegant or hilarious speaking skills… Do the rest a favor & save them for last! Likewise those who might be timid or have trouble forming complete sentences might be placed first.

STAGE FRIGHT: Sometimes a family member or friend may be too shy or otherwise unable to speak – we, in this case, have often been asked & are happy to read prepared remarks or toasts when the person expressing the are too shy or emotional to do it otherwise.

Others guests may want to toast after the bridal party has made their toasts. Brides & Grooms may be ok with a little, a lot, or none of this. This really depends on the wedding reception and how things are going.

Regardless of who’s toasting, sometimes you can just tell that it’s time to end the toasts and move on to something else. Groans, yawns, or sometimes outright snoring & especially objects being hurled at the speaker are solid indicators that it might be time to wrap it up.

We once had a father of the bride toast for almost a full hour. I’m just leaving that out there, figuring no further comment is probably needed.

MULTIPLE SLICE TOASTER:

So, here’s a wrap up of most common toasting choices:

• The father (or parents) of the bride

• The father (or parents) of the groom

• The best man toasts the bride & groom.

• The maid (or matron) of honor toasts the bride & groom.

• The bride toasts the groom

• The groom toasts the bride

• Other people toast

• the chef toasts the bread

Lastly – there are millions of pre-written toasts on the internet. Don’t even think about it. For inspiration it’s one thing. But use your own words. People will appreciate your sincerity more than anything else.

Here’s to the Bride & Groom! 🙂
